Songwriter RICHARD NEAL to Appear at Podunk 2017
Debut appearance as a solo artist at the Festival.
On Saturday, August 12, 2017, songwriter/singer Richard Neal will perform for the first time as a solo artist from 3:20 – 4:05 on the Americana Stage at the 2017 Podunk Bluegrass Festival taking place in Hebron, CT.
Called “an ingenious and nuanced songwriter” by cygnusradio.com, and “a fresh new talent in the contemporary acoustic, Americana and folk music genres” by Rex Fowler, Richard has performed extensively as a solo artist and as an accompanist around the country.
No stranger to the stage of the Podunk Festival, one of Richard’s bands, Katie Wilson and the Two-Time String Band, won the Festival’s band competition in 2010. They performed there again in 2011.
In 2014 he made an appearance with songwriter Julie Foldesi (www.juliefoldesi.com) who won the Festival’s songwriting competition. Richard produced the CD that contained the winning track, “My Side of Town”.
And again in 2016 he performed on the Americana Stage as accompanist to singer/songwriter Frank Critelli (https://www.facebook.com/Frank-Critelli-59852521448/).
This year Richard will perform a set of his original compositions, some of which appear on his most recent CD, “A Step Up”, which was produced by Rex Fowler (Aztec Two Step).
