On Thursday we convene for bluegrass at My Place in Newtown, and on Saturday we celebrate the birthday of my great friend Anne Marie Menta with a special "in-the-round" show at Best Video in Hamden.

Backroom Bluegrass... 

This coming Tuesday, May 1, we conduct our bluegrass open jam/open mic at My Place in Newtown. All pickers welcome--at 8 sit in the backroom for an acoustic picking circle, then step into the barroom for an open mic later on.

On Saturday we appear in concert at the Meeting House in Newtown. It will be an evening of high-spirited music with appearances by special guests David Wheeler and Cadence Carroll.

Local Bands Anniversary 

On Sunday at Cafe 9 we throw a bash celebrating the 30th year of a venerable institution, the long-running "Local Bands" show on WPLR. Against all odds, Rick Allison, the late James Velvet, and recently Frank Critelli have hosted this broadcast which only features local artists on the playlist--on a commercial radio station no less! 


Big day in store: brunch at noon; special listening spots before the live music; Birdmen at 2; Big Fat Combo at 3; Jim Chapdelaine and Christine Ohlman at 4; plus guest appearances by all manner of fine artists.
